Staying safe online is more important than ever. As technology continues to evolve, so do the tactics used by scammers. It's essential to be aware of these tactics in order to protect your financial information. Let's explore some of the most common scams and learn how to protect yourself.

Prepare, Be Proactive, and Protect Against Recent Fraud

Fraud is rampant worldwide and does affect CUA members. Credit Union of America is vigilant in providing safeguards for CUA systems and member accounts. When both CUA and members take initiative in these safeguards, we can prevent or obstruct fraud and minimize member losses. Members reported over $1 million in fraud cases by unscrupulous scammers or family members. Either the swindler obtained information to access an account, or the member unknowingly participated with a scammer, or both! The best defense is a good offense. Prepare, be proactive, and protect!

Scammers never fail to find new ways to steal money and identities. Sometimes it is a tried-and-true scam, but they go after a new target group. Younger targets are what we see most recently. The "free money" scam has been around for years, but the targets are now younger.
