CUA Awards $24,000 in John Michener Scholarships

Credit Union of America (CUA) is thrilled to announce twelve recipients of the John Michener Student Scholarship. Named after CUA's founder, this annual scholarship program awards $2,000 to deserving students.

Applicants were required to be a high school senior or currently working on an undergraduate degree, 24 years of age or younger, and a member of CUA. The scholarship recipients will be honored at a reception held for them and their guests at CUA's corporate headquarters.

This year's recipients are:

Wren Johnson, Wichita, KS - Pursuing a communications degree at Wichita State University to become a teacher.

Mahtee-Lynn O’Shea, Wichita, KS - Attending Wichita State University, majoring in sports management.

Sian Helfrich, Lawrence, KS - Studying at the University of Kansas with an interest in becoming a structural engineer.

Sabrina Ahmed, Wichita, KS - Currently majoring in biology at Newman University.

Adam Bosworth, Wichita, KS - Graduating from Wichita North High School, will attend Wichita State University with a double major in art & psychology.

Ainsley Overheul, Norman, OK - Attending the University of Oklahoma, interested in pursuing a career in biomedical engineering.

Owen Johnson, Maize, KS - Graduating from Maize High School and enrolled in both the professional pilot program and as an airport management & safety major at the University of Central Missouri.

Aireana Lang, Topeka, KS - Studying at Washburn University with a major in occupational therapy.

Hannah Webber, Winfield, KS - Attending Southwestern College with a major in Health Science and an interest in becoming a physician assistant.

Kari Fitzsimmons, Pratt, KS - Graduating from Pratt High School and will major in biology at Washburn University to become a physician associate.

Ayaan Parikh, Wichita, KS - Graduating from Wichita Collegiate High School and will attend Emory University to major in public health.

Martin Zamora-Barboza, Wichita, KS - Graduating from Wichita Northwest High School and will major in Computer Science at Wichita State University.

Since the program's launch in 2011, CUA has proudly awarded over $200,000 to 157 students. This scholarship program demonstrates CUA's ongoing commitment to supporting the educational aspirations of its members.
